My practice begins with paying attention: to a shifting sky, a spreading pigment, an unfamiliar possibility. Through painting, photography and moving images, I explore the fragile familiarity of places and bodies.

Experiments, encounters and unexpected turns shape the process. Careful observation and deliberate nonsense both have a place in my work.

TRACES OF
THE NORTH

Photographic journeys through Iceland, Svalbard, Ireland, and the Faroe Islands. From volcanic landscapes to Arctic shores, these images trace encounters with places shaped by water, wind, and changing light.

My camera follows shifting skies, quiet details, and the unexpected rhythms of weather. Each photograph holds a passing moment: a gathering cloud, a distant horizon, a landscape briefly transformed by light.

Snow-covered landscape with a partially frozen river or lake and mountains in the background under a cloudy sky.
Ice chunks and rocks on a snowy landscape with mountain in the background and sunrise or sunset sky.
A rocky shoreline with dark stones in the foreground, green grassy hills on either side, and a body of water with small waves. Overcast sky with gray clouds.
Snow-covered cliffs overlooking the ocean with a small village at the base, under a partly cloudy sky.
Overcast day at a beach with waves crashing onto the shore, a mix of dark sand and light snow or foam on the beach, with a hazy, gray sky.

Meet Brain Deer: me, with a brain for a body and letters escaping my antlers—an entirely reasonable employee of The Department of Imaginary Affairs. This is where ideas born on a whim find a home, meaning is optional, and a little deliberate nonsense helps preserve sanity in an increasingly absurd world.

A surreal image of a deer with a brain body and antlers that transition into a forest of falling leaves and letters.

Experimental Video Collages from the Faroe Islands | 2024

These short video collages explore shifting skies, coastal landscapes, and the rhythms of weather. Mirroring, rotation, and selective framing transform familiar views into unexpected visual arrangements.
